Speech Pathology Funding
If you're wondering about the cost of speech therapy, or what funding options are available, here's an overview of the ways families can fund sessions with Connection Matters — including NDIS, Medicare and private health insurance.
NDIS Funding for Speech Pathology
I'm not a registered NDIS provider, which means I can see clients who are self-managed or plan-managed. If your NDIS plan is agency/NDIA-managed, you'll need to use a registered provider.
Medicare Funding for Speech Pathology
Some children may qualify for Medicare rebates through one of two pathways. I am able to provide services to children who fall under either of these Medicare funding for speech pathology pathways.

Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP)
Previously known as an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC), this allows eligible children to access up to 5 rebated sessions per calendar year, shared across all allied health services. If you’re wondering about the cost of speech therapy, the current rebate is $60.35 per session. Please contact your GP to find out if your child is eligible for a CDMP.
Medicare M10
From 1 March 2026, children and young people under 25 with stuttering, speech sound disorders or cleft lip/palate may be eligible for Medicare-rebated assessment and treatment sessions, with a referral from a GP, consultant physician or specialist. This pathway allows up to 8 assessment sessions and 20 treatment sessions, with a current rebate of $87.25 per session, covering part of the cost of speech therapy.
You can use both a CDMP and M10 across the year (though not for the same session on the same day) to cover part of the cost of speech therapy— speak to your GP about which pathway may suit your child.
Private Health Insurance for Speech Pathology
Many private health funds offer rebates on speech pathology under extras cover. Rebate amounts vary by fund and policy — it's worth checking directly with your provider.
Privately Funded Speech Pathology
If you're not accessing NDIS, Medicare or private health funding, I also see clients on a private-pay basis. I charge the NDIS rate for speech pathology services. That is $193.99 per hour. Please enquire about the cost of assessment, as prices change according to the complexity and the length of the assessment.
