What is Speech Therapy?
A speech pathologist is sometimes also called a speech therapist, which is why speech therapy and speech pathology are often used interchangeably — and for children specifically, a paediatric speech therapist and a paediatric speech pathologist mean the same thing. As a paediatric speech pathologist, I work specifically with toddlers, children and teens, applying evidence-based therapy to address these challenges directly. Speech pathologists identify the exact nature of a person's speech, swallowing, language or reading challenges and are skilled at applying therapy to address the difficulty.
My services focus on creating meaningful connections and building confidence through targeted, evidence-based interventions tailored to each child's unique needs.
Assessments
I provide assessment of communication in speech, language comprehension and expression, reading, swallowing and stuttering.
Assessments make speech therapy highly targeted by pinpointing a child’s difficulties and creating appropriate goals. This process is a team effort. I work with the child/teen, their family, caregivers and educators, where appropriate, to ensure these goals are clear, meaningful and achievable.
Assessments can help others (such as classroom teachers, relatives and friends) understand the challenges a young person is facing. They help ensure appropriate supports are in place to help a child reach their potential.
I provide reports on these assessments to support funding applications and developmental paediatric assessments.
Therapy
Families who opt for therapy also receive speech therapy plans based on assessments . This ensures my work is not only holistic but targeted and effective.
I offer 30-minute, 45-minute and one-hour therapy sessions addressing speech, language and literacy. For late talkers, I work directly with parents. I can also provide small-group literacy sessions.
Serving Bondi Junction & the Eastern Suburbs
My clinic is based in Bondi Junction, with families visiting from Bondi, Woollahra, Double Bay, Paddington, Randwick, Coogee, Waverley, and across the Eastern Suburbs for speech pathology and literacy support. This puts me in easy reach of teenagers travelling by public transport.
NDIS Speech Therapy, Medicare & Private Sessions
I provide NDIS speech therapy for families who are self-managed or plan-managed, as well as support for families accessing a Medicare rebate through a GP Chronic Disease Management Plan, and those paying privately.
